We want to recycle as much of our waste as possible.

Recycling more protects our environment for the future, and also saves money that we can invest in the services our communities value. This means that while we can offer an additional blue recycling bin to households free of charge, we would like to reduce the number of extra green general waste bins that are currently being used and so generate less waste that cannot be recycled.

Second blue bins, for recycling plastic, paper, cartons, tins etc, are available free to households. We provide second green bins for general waste in certain circumstances, namely if:

  • There are five or more people in your household
  • The household has children in nappies
  • Someone in your household has a medical condition which means more waste is generated

We of course want to ensure that those households that specifically require a second green bin continue to have access to have one, based on fair and transparent criteria. To help with this, please take just a few minutes to answer this short survey.

Thank you.

Some local authorities charge for a second green bin for general waste. Do you think that º£½ÇÉçÇø and Bute Council should charge for this service to offset additional costs?
We propose asking you every two years if you still require your second green bin. Do agree with this?

Recycling more can help save money for other services. Information on recycling is available on our website at - Rubbish and Recycling

Is there any other information we could provide that would help you recycle more?
Did you know, you should mark all your bins (waste and recycling) with your house name /number using a waterproof pen, paint or stickers, so we know which bins to lift?
